After reading and discussing ![[info]](http://l-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif) qamar and p_cat posts on breastfeeding yesterday I thought I'd note down a few of the things that have helped Mz N and I.
For some people bfing is easy, their is no real learning curve, the bub latches, the milk/colostrum comes and everyone is happy and at ease. For other people issues arise and bfing becomes hard/painful/scary. But no matter how easy it's all been, guesses are at some point you will have an issue with feeding.

Icing. I'm not good at icing. When I make it from scratch it's always too thin when I want it thick or too thick when I want it thin. And no amounts of extra water or icing sugar can amend these disasters of science. Sometimes I think my icing is destined to be the morter in a cake wall. So last night I make a pre-birthday carrot cake for my man and I to share. And yup you guessed it, the cake ended up floating in a goopy puddle of icing. Like a lone island of carrot and walnut with lemon waves lapping at its shores. Still tastes good tho. Just doesn't look like the appetizing softly iced cake I was aiming for. Patience. I must cultivate patience in all things cake. |

Triple R are doing a collection of toiletries for those affected by the fires. If anyone wants to contribute I was planning to walk down tomorrow and drop some stuff off as we have a few things around the house unused (stuff has to be there for 5pm Wednesday).
Things like:
Pads/Tampons
Shampoo
Soap
Razors

So that's two masters applications off, now to start saving for all those textbooks (and a new ibook!!!) Oh and to decide between coursework and research, if'in I get offers for both programs that is (I'm being very presumptuous aren't I).
So I guess it comes down to the questions of how much of a life do I want to have for the next 2 years?? |

OK, this is the general, pre invitation notice that we will be having a election night BBQ beginning mid afternoon on the 24 November and trawling on to announcement at the end (which may require all glass being removed, but lets see).

As kultek and I will be moving into our very own abode soonish (creep creep onward to the 14th!) we need to set up a new internet account. Now we've gotten used to wireless fast internetyness so can anyone recommend a provider? we'd also like to be able to get VIOP or something like it if possible but w not paying for a phone line and just getting a cable connection is also an atractive option so just ADVICE ME!

Once again we've packed our meager (but expanded) possessions and have upped and moved from a place that could have felt like home, to one that will never be our home. But that's ok, it all serves a purpose. Coming back to something shouldn't be too easy. If it was, what would ever make us want to leave? Its good to still have the kitties around although they are super stressed and a bit mad at us for more change in such a short time for them, especially as we pulled them out of good homes to wander aimlessly with us for god knows how long.
Hopefully one of the estate agents I have been hasselling will come through for us today and then we'll have something solid to look forward to. Otherwise their's not much keeping us here. Just a wedding and then a big yawning gap of homeless mediocrity.

But in pluses its my birthday and my baby dragged himself outta bed to share breakky with me, yummy sourdough sesame bread with vegemite (it DOES go with everything), and I got to watch a giant snake destroy a tank.

So their is no Panettone to be found in London. Not even a plain old Pandoro. Oh no, Harrods are out, M&S can order me some, Selfridges nope, John Lewis, nope, Carluccios (surely!) NOPE.
Nada bum poo.
I mean you can get mince pies and hot cross buns and plum pud all year round but one months after Christmas and this cuisine challenged town is all out of Panettone.
I miss Italy!!!
So its off to the French Patisserie down the road for Brioche.

So I've been thinking that maybe once we finish this journey of ours that I might get home, get my head around a few concepts and start writing some academic type applications you know the sort, MA, PhD things. Just to see what happens. I think my brain is ready to start trying again. |

Woke up this morning, looked out the window and the world was covered in white!! Snow snow snow!! So exciting to be in a city where it snows!!! At the moment the sculptures in the park across from work are a very cold looking bronze lioness swooping on her aurochs prey. Theey have big stripes of feathery white settled on their backs. Everything has already started to melt, but the loverly feeling of snow remains.
